Thursday 10 Apr 08 / my apartment sucks
when my family lived in saudi arabia, our favorite building was the ministry of the interior. yes, that's right, we had a favorite building. (times were tight, recreationally speaking.) either way, this is a picture of it. as you can see, it rules mercilessly. it's gigantic, it looks like a flying saucer, and the best part is, the building's design doesn't really seem to serve any function other than just looking cool. as a result, i gained an appreciation for gratuitious architecture. so when i stumbled across this sweet little slideshow of ridiculous and impossible buildings like the ukranian floating castle up there, it filled me with sweet saudi nostalgia. not to mention an intense craving for lambon abed ofrice. enjoy. -d (from GIZMODO)

aha, aha! lamb abed of rice--i had almost forgotten that one!!!! how do you remember EVERYTHING???
